Route of the day
All points shown were part of the original itinerary. Not all were visited — decisions made along the way are a natural part of any expedition. We kept them on the map in case you wish to explore them yourself.
What we lived
We woke up and had breakfast around eight, and an hour and a quarter later set off on an easy, relaxed walk with a guide — one of the activities the lodge offers, lasting around an hour and a half. Back by mid-morning, the rest of the day was entirely our own. After the pace of the previous days, that was exactly what was needed.
The lodge has two pools: a regular one, on the cooler side, and a natural pool fed by a hot spring running at around 36°C. We used both, which in Namibian winter felt like a genuine luxury. Lunch was provided by the lodge around one. The afternoon stayed free — board games, cards, reading, rest. Dinner at half past seven, followed by more time to talk before turning in.
The most relaxed day of the trip. Not every day needs to be a highlight.

Our tips
The hot spring pool at Huab Lodge is one of the better-kept secrets of the route — at 36°C in Namibian winter, it is worth staying an extra hour for. Plan the walk for the morning before the heat builds.
